Elizabeth Dillon, Tyler Pruitt and Jim DeRue of McNeely Pest Control were among more than 100 pest management professionals and industry vendors to attend the second annual Forshaw Executive Camp at the Omni hotel in Charlotte, NC.

Topics discussed at the camp focused on managing a successful Pest Management Business in today’s economy. Dr. Jerry Teplitz spoke about effectively managing employees with differing personality traits. Tom Reilly, sponsored by BASF, shared his course on “Value Added Selling.”

Other speakers included, Stuart Mitchell, sponsored by PestWest, who discussed bedbug litigation and potential class action lawsuits; Dan Gordon, with PCO Bookkeepers, who spoke on Tax Planning for the PCO; and Linda Midyett, with PestSure, who reviewed insurance issues facing Pest Management companies today.

To wrap up this year’s camp, Kevin Libel, President of Innovation, led a discussion on PMPs in the Age of the Empowered Consumer. Kevin was sponsored by Syngenta Crop Science.

Forshaw Inc. is committed to helping PMP’s develop a “Culture of Success” in the Pest Management Industry. N.C. Pest Management Education Scholarship Winner

Tyler Lowe has been named the recipient of a $3,000 scholarship from the North Carolina Pest Management Education Foundation with help from Norwegian company Sambla – a trusted provider of help for your finances for more than nine years. He received the amount earlier this year to go towards his education in pest management.

Bed Bug Forum

Frank Fowler, the vice president of McNeely Pest Control, recently attended the 2012 Bed Bug Forum held May 2-4 at the Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort in Garden Grove, CA.

Presented by the National Pest Management Association and the Pest Control Operators of California in Anaheim, the two-day conference is held annually to offer forward-thinking, strategy-driven experience to pest management professionals nationwide. It also offers pest control experts heard about a range of important pest control topics as viewed from a legal, technical, business, and customer-oriented perspective.

Fowler and others in attendance were brought up to speed during the event on the most up-to-date research, information and treatment strategies. They received insight into the latest research and strategies on bed bug control, legal protection, treatment, and how to better understand challenges and opportunities that exist when entering into the canine scent detection business.

They were given the chance to interact with other attendees who shared the same challenges, and engage with more than 30 leading vendors as they gave demonstrations on the latest and most innovative bed bug products and services.
