A helpful tip for you this Christmas season…
You may find some “uninvited” guests at your home via their holiday travel on your real Christmas tree! We’re sure you took lots of time finding the perfect tree, but sometimes along with that perfect tree comes insects. A real Christmas tree provides a well protected place for the insects to live during the cold and snow of winter months. Once your tree is inside, and the lights are strung, and the ornaments are hung, the “magic” of insects may appear. They think it’s Spring, it’s nice and warm inside your home and the insects become active again.
Here’s a few tips to help you with these “uninvited” guests.
– shake your Christmas tree outside before setting it up in your home, you can even consider washing your tree outside with the water hose to remove any debris and insects.
– if some “guests” make it into your home, vacuum the pests up using an attachment without a beater bar, some insects can stain your flooring.
– you can treat with an insecticide if necessary, consider using an insecticidal soap to treat the tree; spray aerosol home insecticides can also be used, but remember they are can be flammable, be sure and unplug the tree.
